Mujadid-e-Deen-o- Millat, Imaam Mulla Ali Qaari (Allah be pleased with him) states, و نقل عن أبى جزرة عمن لقيه من العارفين انه ما قرئ في شدة الا و فرجت و ما ركب به في مركب فغرق. و انه كان مجاب الدعوة و لقد دعا لقارئه. قال الحافظ ابن كثير: و كان يستسقى بقراءته الغيث. قيل: و يسمى الترياق المجرب. و نقل السيد جمال الدين عن عمه السيد أصيل الدين أنه قال: قرأت البخارى مائة و عشرين مرة للوقائع و المهمات لى و لغيرى فحصل المرادات و قضى الحاجات و هذا كله ببركة سيد السادات و منبع السادات عليه افضل الصلوات و اكمل التحيات (Mirqaatul Mafaateeh, Vol. 1, pg. 54, published by Maktabah Haqqania) Below is the crux of the above-mentioned excerpt; Muhaqiq alal Itlaaq, Mujadid-e-Deen-o-Millat, Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Haqq Muhaddith Dehlwi (Allah be pleased with him) states, “It is an accepted fact amongst the Ulama which they unreservedly proclaimed, that when Sahih Bukhari is recited at the time of difficulty, the adversity is removed (through its blessings)…Trustworthy Ulama attest that Imaam Bukhari (Allah be pleased with him) was Mustajaabud-Da’waat (one whose supplications are accepted) and he has made Dua of goodness for those who recite Bukhari Shareef.” (Ashi’atul Lamaat, Vol. 1, pg. 144-5, published by Farid Book Stall, Pakistan) Sirajul Hind, Mujadid-e-Deen-o-Millat, Hazrat Shah Abdul Azeez Muhaddith Dehlwi (Allah be pleased with him) states, “At the time of hardship, fear of an enemy, sickness, famine or other adversities, the recitation of this Jaami-us-Sahih (Bukhari Shareef) is the elixir of success. This has been attested several times.” (Bustaanul Muhaditheen, pg. 274, published by H.M. Saeed Company) In fact, an elder of the Deobandi movement, Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi’s ‘Fataawa Rasheedia’ has the following question and answer, “ Question – At the time of hardship, is it proven or not from the blessed eras to make the Khatm of Bukhari? Is it a Bid’at (evil innovation) or not?” His answer is recorded, “ Answer – Bukhari was not compiled in the Quroon-e-Thalaatha but its Khatm is correct as Dua made after good Zhikr is accepted. The source of this is proven from the Shariah, it is not a Bid’at.” (Fataawa Rasheedia, pg. 154, published by Idaara Sadaa-e-Deoband) Allah and His Rasool know best.
